Our Instructors

Our chief instructor is Jerry Chenault, 4th dan in Japanese Jujitsu. 4th dan black belt in Shin Nagare Karate. 3rd dan in Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwon Do, and 1st dan in Hapkido. Jerry also holds a brown belt in Judo and has trained extensively in Aikido. He has been training in martial arts for over 21 years and is a certified instructor with the American Budo Society, Midori Yama Budokai and The Christian Martial Arts Association.  Jerry holds B.S. and Masters Degrees in education from Auburn University and has over 21 years of experience working in formal and informal youth education and development. He is an Urban Regional Extension Agent with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. He is married to Michelle H. Chenault and they have a combined family of 4 children:  Kristi, Jay, Lew and Alliana.
Justin Jackson.  A graduate of West Morgan High School, Justin recently completed a successful tour of duty with the U.S. Navy and is highly trained in aviation electronics.  He works for North Alabama Electric Company currently and resides in Moulton.  Justin has a 3 year old daughter and is married to China Jackson.  He has a wonderful background and 1st Degree Black Belt in the Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do. He also has his 2nd degree in Japanese Jujitsu and extensive training in Hapkido, Judo, Tae Kwon Do, and Aikido.
Michelle Chenault is the PDMA co-owner/business manager and the wife of Sensei Jerry Chenault.  Michelle has earned a B.S. in Home Economics Education (FACS) from the University of North Alabama with an emphasis in Food Science and Nutrition; and in December 2008 she earned her Masters at AAMU in Education Administration and Leadership.  She also brings 15 years of teaching experience at East Lawrence High School with her.  She is also our nutrition consultant for PDMA.  She enjoys working with our local youth, promoting healthy, family centered activities and spending time with her husband and children.  

Joy Palmer is the PDMA Program Director at the Decatur Dojo.  She is also one of our Kid Tiger and Lil' Dragon instructors  A graduate of Westwood College, Joy has a degree in Graphic Design and Multi-Media.  She has background in the Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do as well as in the Japanese martial art of Jujutsu and extensive training in Hapkido, Judo, Tae Kwon Do, and Aikido.  She is currently a 2nd brown belt, training hard for her 1st degree Black Belt in Japanese Jujitsu.
